The history of jazz has been looked at considerably well by many researchers and has a lot written on it. Various other styles including Afro-Cuban jazz and Latin jazz became popular in the 2000s. It was quite successful as it received significant media airtime on radio. Then entering the 1980s as well, Smooth jazz came into play.

Modal jazz came much later that year, which was almost similar in comparison to Free jazz that didn't necessarily follow the beat of play. It utilized much faster tempos and improvisation of chords. A style of jazz, Bebop, sprung forth in the 1940s, bringing with it a more complex form that is unique to the singer.
The earliest, New Orleans jazz, started within the 1910s, incorporating improvisation into brass bands, biguine, and ragtime, and blues. The propagation of jazz music caused it to imprint on various forms of musical styles and cultures giving birth to even more styles. Its roots are in West African culture and African-American musical traditions and expressions. It consists majorly of improvisation, complex melody, and harmony mixed with swings and call and response episodes. Ever since, jazz has become a way for its fans to express themselves musically both traditionally and contemporarily. Its earliest predecessors were blues and ragtime music. Its time of birth was within the late 19th and 20th centuries. Jazz music is a genre of music that has its roots of origin among African-American niches of New Orleans in Louisiana, United States.
